No. 21 Terps Drop 6-3 Contest to East Carolina

GREENVILLE NC, – The No. 21 Maryland baseball team battled but ultimately fell to the East Carolina Pirates, 6-3. The Terps (9-2) couldn't put together a late rally to overcome an early deficit and lost its second game of the year.

Maryland opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to an RBI groundout by Matt Shaw that scored Luke Shliger. ECU reeled off five straight runs in the second and third, but a Maxwell Costes home run in the fourth cut into the lead, making it 5-2.

Jason Savacool pitched hard for the Terps, grinding out seven innings, giving up five runs, and striking out five. Will Glock pitched a clean eighth inning in relief.

Shliger and Nick Lorusso led the Terps with two hits apiece.
