WEST LAFAYETTE, IN -- Maryland softball locked in its third B1G series win with a 2-1 victory over Purdue on Sunday. The Terps now stand at 21-16 overall, and 7-2 in the Big Ten. This marks the best conference start since joining in 2015, and the first time the Terps have won three Big Ten series in a row.
Haley Ellefson started in the circle and threw two innings, allowing three hits and one run.
Trinity Schlotterbeck made her way into the circle in the top of the third, pitching the remaining five innings, allowing no runs on just one hit and four strikeouts.
Breaking Down The Action
- After a walk and an error put Jaeda McFarland and Mackense Greico on base,Trinity Schlotterbeck brought McFarland home on a double up the middle to put the Terps up 1-0 in the top of the first
- The Boilermakers responded with one of their own in the bottom of the first to tie things up
- Schlotterbeck entered the game in the top of the third, striking out her first batter faced and retiring the Boilermakers in order,
- Kiley Goff opened the game back up for Maryland in the top of the fifth, doubling down the left field line, eventually making her way back around off a single from Megan Mikami to put the Terps up 2-0, where they remained
