Michaela Jones blasted a grand slam in the first inning to key Maryland's
9-0
victory over Purdue in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Saturday. The Terps won their 20th game of the season and stand at 20-16 overall and 6-2 in the Big Ten after the win.
Courtney Wyche started in the circle and threw five full innings, allowing just five hits and no runs. She struck out six batters.

• The Terps took a 2-0 lead as
Jaeda McFarland and
Megan Mikami scored on a error in the top of the first on a ball hit by
Mackense Greico. Four batters later
Michaela Jones smashed a grand slam to put the Terps up 6-0.
• Maryland recorded its next hit from Mikami in the top of the third, with a single to center field
• A double from
Haley Ellefson and a single from
Taylor Okada set up a first-and-thrid for the Terps in the top of the fifth, and
Regan Kerr walked to load the bases with no outs. Okada, Ellefson and Kerr scored on two Purdue errors, putting Maryland up 9-0
Jones Slamming It
• Jones' grand slam was the second of her Maryland career as she also hit one at Rutgers on May 7, 2021.
• That set her career-high in RBIs with four, which she matched on Saturday.
