The Associate Director in the Gossett Student-Athlete Center for Academic and Personal Excellence (GSAC) will work under the director supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services / Director, Gossett Student-Athlete Center (GSAC) and is responsible for overseeing the implementation, delivery, and monitoring of academic support services for football student-athletes. The position is responsible for overseeing progress towards graduation, athletic eligibility, study hall, academic advising, and the delivery of appropriate academic support services for football student-athletes. The Associate Director will manage the daily operation of football academic support and associated staff located in Gossett Hall, and in addition, will oversee the learning support services area for all student-athletes. The Associate Director ensures that all football academic support services are operating in accordance with GSAC policies and procedures and that football academic support staff are working collaboratively and cross-functionally with all GSAC staff and other University units as appropriate. The Associate Director shares in the advising load of football student-athletes, facilitates course scheduling, monitors academic progress, prepares and maintains written academic reports, meets routinely with the football coaching staff, assists with the recruitment of prospective student-athletes during official and unofficial visits, and performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Master's Degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, Education, or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of practical experience in post-secondary education is required. Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA academic rules and procedures. Strong oral and written communication skills including computer literacy; Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information; Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with diverse populations. Must be able and willing to work evenings and weekends, as necessary. Master's degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, Education or related field. An understanding of Learning Support Services; FERPA laws and regulations; supervisory experience; along with a strong understanding of University, Big Ten Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. At-least three (3) to five (5) years of successful, full-time, professional experience in athletic academic advising services of a Division I University or in a Division I Conference setting. Strong leadership background.
