Terps Fall at Ohio State in Final Match of 2023 Season

Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Maryland men's soccer team fell in its final game of the season, 4-1, to Ohio State at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Breaking Down the Action

After a fairly even start, some sustained Maryland pressure led to the opening goal. Leon Koehl's corner was knocked around the box before Bjarne Thiesen finished from short range for his second goal of the season in the 21st minute.
The Terps stayed in control in the 10 minutes following the tally, but were unable to find a second goal.
The Buckeyes found their opener in the 44th minute. Michael Adedokun sent in a cross that Andre Roberts headed past Saxon Wolcott.
Wolcott was at the center of the Buckeyes second goal. A long ball played by Roberts was misplayed by the Terps' freshman keeper, which allowed Adedokan to run in on goal and score.
The freshman keeper rebounded in the 70th minute, making a great close range stop to keep the score 2-1.
The Buckeyes took a two-goal lead in the 73rd minute. After the Terps' couldn't clear the ball at the top of the box, Connor DesRoches put a left-footed strike past Wolcott.
Parker Grinstead made it 4-1 just minutes later with a right-footed curler.
