COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Terps look to close out the first half of the season on a strong note as Coppin State visits the XFINITY Center for the final non-conference tilt of the year. The game will tip at 7:00 PM and will be televised on BTN. Maryland will be looking for its 19th consecutive home win, its fifth straight win overall, and its eighth win in the last nine games before jumping into Big Ten play in the New Year.

Terps Look To Extend Home Win Streak To 19 Games
- The Terps are coming off a 69-60 win at UCLA thanks to a dazzling 37-point effort by Jahmir Young along with an impressive 17 points from Danta Scott just before the holiday break.
- Young now leads the Terps with 19.3 points per game followed by Julian Reese at 14.0 points per game. Scott has come alive the last two games averaging 16 points in both, while Young has been averaging 22.4 points over the last eight..
- In the win over UCLA, Jahmir Young was sensational with a career-high 37 points on 13-of-19 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range, had seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
- In the first half alone, Young had 23 points going 8-of-9 from the floor (4-4 from deep) and 3-of-3 from the free throw line. His 23 points were the most by any Big Ten player in the first half this season.
- Overall, his 37 points are tied with Will Hetzel (vs. Navy, 2/12/69) as the 15th-most for a single-game in program history. They were also the most in a game for Maryland since Diamond Stone had 39 against Penn State (12/30/15).
- Dating back to last season, Maryland has an 18-game overall home win streak after starting the year 7-0 in the XFINITY Center - the second longest such streak in program history.
- Home has been especially advantageous for the Terps this year as they have a +27.1 scoring difference compared to road/neutral games. Maryland is averaging 84.3 points at home and 57.2 points on the road.
- The program record for an overall home win streak is 27 from Dec. 6, 2015-Feb. 13, 2016.
- Following a loss at home to No. 16 UCLA last December, the Terps then won 11 straight including nine Big Ten games at XFINITY.
- Overall, the 18-game home win streak is the 4th-longest nationally. Among 'major' conferences, it is the longest streak in the country tied with Marquette.

- After a standout season in 2022-23, Jahmir Young, one of the top point guards in the country, has racked up the preseason accolades. He has been named to the Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 and is a member of the Bob Cousy Award Watch List as well. Young was also a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team, the first unanimous pick for Maryland since Cowan in 2019.
- Additionally, Young picked up Preseason All-America honors from Blue Ribbon and Lindy's, while The Field of 68 had him on the All-Big Ten Preseason Team and ranked him as the No. 35 of 100 top players nationally entering 2023-24.
- Last season, Young was a second team All-Big Ten selection, was named to the USBWA All-District Team, and selected to the NABC All-District Second Team. Additionally, he was chosen as the Pigskin Club of Washington Collegiate Player of the Year.
- Young is looking to become just the sixth NCAA player since 2006 to post 1,000 points at two different institutions during his career. Prior to the the extra year of eligibity due to COVID-19, only three players had achieved the feat in the past 20 years. Young's 2,206 career points ranks 2nd among active players in the NCAA behind Max Abmas of Texas (2,756 pts).
- Young leads the Terps having scored in all 132 career games played. Only six times has he been held under 5 points in that stretch. Overall, Young has 117 double-figure scoring games with 47 20-point efforts.
- Young's 47 20-point games are the most among all active Big Ten players.
Jahmir Young is a member of the Wooden Award Preseason Top 50, the Bob Cousy Watch List, and was a unanimous pick to the preseason All-B1G Team.
JuJu Beast
- After a breakout sophomore campaign that saw Julian Reese become one of the top big men in the Big Ten, the Baltimore native enters 2023-24 with high praise. Reese joined Jahmir Young on the Preseason All-Big Ten Team and was named to the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award Watch List.
- Reese showed his impact for the Terps in 2022-23 as he scored in double-figures in 22 games with a career-high 24 points against Coppin State. He had seven double-doubles on the year including 17 points, 12 rebounds at Ohio State.
- Had one of his best league outings going toe-to-toe with Purdue's Big Ten Player of the Year Zach Edey where Reese scored 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting while adding three rebounds and committing zero turnovers.
- Reese finished 2022-23 tied for second on the team in scoring at 11.4 points and led the Terps in rebounds (7.2).
- In two NCAA Tournament games last year, Reese averaged 15.5 points against West Virginia and No. 1 Alabama.
- His 63.2 field goal percentage last season stands as the third-best mark in Maryland program history for a single season.
Julian Reese tied his career high with 24 points while pulling down 15 boards against Penn State for his fifth double double of the year.
Great Scott!
- Donta Scott became the 59th player in program history to reach 1,000 points last season. Through 12 games this year, he now has 1,437 points and 766 rebounds. He is also the 17th Terp to post 1,300 points and 600 rebounds in a career.
- Darryl Morsell (1,090 points / 510 rebounds / 2018-21) and Anthony Cowan (1,881 points / 508 rebounds / 2017-20) were the most recent Terps to post 1,000/500.
- Scott is now 21st all-time in scoring and needs 13 points to move past Eric Ayala (1449, 2018-22) for 20th. He needs 16 more boards to pass Ekene Ibekwe (781, 2003-07) for No. 11 all-time and 18 to reach the top-10 overall.
- Additionally, thanks to his fifth season, Scott (141 GP - t-1st most, 126 GS - t-3rd most, 4103 MIN - 7th most) will have a chance to set Maryland's games played record (141, Jake Layman, 2012-16), the games started record (136, Steve Blake, 1999-03), and minutes played record (4568, Greivis Vasquez, 2006-10).
Donta Scott continues to climb the all-time record lists for the Terps.
