COLLEGE PARK, MD. - The University of Maryland softball team will head to Waco, Texas for the Baylor Invitational this weekend. The Terps will kick off the weekend with a double header against Texas A&M Commerce and Baylor on Friday. Maryland will go on to face Minnesota on Saturday morning. Maryland's second game on Saturday and finale on Sunday will be determined based on seeding. Friday's game against Baylor will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
THIS WEEK'S STORYLINES
scouting the foes
- The Golden Lions are 2-9 through their first 11 games of the season, picking up victories over Akron and Creighton.
- Baylor has opened up the 2023 season with a 8-1 start. The Bears are coming off a 4-0 weekend including a victory over No. 1 Oklahoma in the Getterman Classic in Waco, Texas.
- The Gophers are off to a 5-4 start in the 2023 season, including two run-rule victories over Western Kentucky and Butler. Minnesota is coming off of a 1-3 weekend in Chapel Hill in the ACC/Big Ten challenge. Maryland and Minnesota will not face each other in Big Ten play this season.
