Maryland Soccer Programs Partner with VOYCENOW Foundation for Run for Equality

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's and women's soccer programs will partner with the VOYCENOW Foundation for the third annual Maryland/VOYCENOW Run for Equality set to take place Saturday, Feb. 18. The two organizations will also collaborate with the Dream BIG Foundation.

DONATE

The Maryland soccer teams will participate in a 5K run at Ludwig Field on Feb. 18, as the programs attempt to raise $10K. A virtual event, donors are encouraged to run, bike or walk wherever and whatever distance they can, but are not required to do so.

Supporters have the option to donate freely or donate as a sponsor of any of Maryland's men's and women's soccer players. Any donation of support is greatly appreciated and 100 percent of donations will directly support the growth of youth programming throughout Maryland.

The event will partner with Parichute to accept donations. Parichute is a social crowdfunding platform that connects athletes and fans with vetted nonprofit organizations and has served as a key asset for VOYCENOW.

Donations to the event will support the children of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in the greater Washington D.C. area and Baltimore, the Prince George's County Boys and Girls Clubs and the Cherry Hill district of Baltimore.

"In conjunction with VOYCENOW, our women's soccer program and Dream BIG, I'm thrilled that the Run For Equality is back for its third year." Maryland head coach Sasho Cirovski said. "The impact of the donations from this event has been incredibly helpful for our local community. It is a joy to be able to once again partner with VOYCENOW, an organization founded by two of our former players. What Zack and Alex have done over the past few years is amazing, and I am so proud of them. Thanks to Meghan and her program for also jumping on board and making a difference with us. We appreciate any support our Maryland fans and beyond can give for this event."

"We are beyond honored and excited to run it back and host the third annual Run for Equality with our fellow Terrapins, both the men's and women's teams," said Alex Crognale and Zack Steffen of VOYCENOW. "The impact the University and the community had on us has made us who we are today and we are grateful to be in a position to continue to give back. We have surpassed our goal the last two years and are looking forward to raising even more this year."

"I am proud to team up with the Maryland men's soccer program and VOYCENOW to give back to the Prince George's County, Washington D.C., and Baltimore communities," Maryland women's soccer head coach Meghan Ryan Nemzer said.  "I want to thank Zack Steffen and Alex Crognale for helping raise awareness for the fight for equality. The staff and the team are excited to give back and these are two platforms we are thrilled to be a part of."

The VOYCENOW Foundation was founded in 2020, during historic civil rights protests across the U.S. and globe, by professional soccer players and University of Maryland Men's Soccer alumni Zack Steffen and Alex Crognale. The VOYCENOW Foundation serves as a platform for community events, youth mentorship and nonprofit fundraisers, and features over 150 professional athletes across six major sports. Formed as a community of professional athletes and fans speaking up for equality and justice, VOYCENOW has now raised over $200,000 through the VOYCENOW Minority Education Fund to help provide access to resources and opportunities for at-risk youth, and is currently partnered with national organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
