No. 23 Terps Rally To Extend Win Streak To Seven With 4-3 Walk-Off Win

LYNCHBURG, VA – No. 23 Maryland won its seventh game in a row with a walk-off 4-3 win over Fairfield in the Flames Classic, hosted at Liberty University. Kiley Goff's double to right center in the bottom of the seventh gave the Terps the dramatic win as Gracelyn Solarz and Sammi Woods came across to score as Maryland moved to 16-4 overall. 

Amelia Lech hit her team-best seventh home run of the season in the third inning. She now has the most homers by a Terp since Sammie Stefan hit seven in 2019. Trinity Schlotterbeck went 1-for-3 with the Terps' other RBI. 

The Terps other hits came from Jaeda McFarland, Sydney Lewis and Sammi Woods. Maryland stole five bases in the game. 

In the circle, Courtney Wyche pitched six-plus inning and struck out 10 Stags before giving way to Keira Bucher in the seventh. 

Fairfield is now 3-6.

Breaking Down The Action
  • Fairfield took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Kaitlin Hoffman singled home Charli Warren.  
  • The Stags added two runs in the third to go ahead 3-0. 
  • Maryland got on the scoreboard as Lech smacked her seventh homer of the season to left left center, cutting the deficit to 3-1. 
  • The Terps continued to fight in the sixth scoring once as Schlotterbeck's single to right scored Kiley Goff to make it 3-2. But they couldn't tie it up. 
  • Maryland took the lead for the first time in the game with Goff's two-run game-winning double.

  • 4: The Terps had five stolen bases, coming from McFarland, Schlotterbeck, Kamryn Davis, Woods and Goff. 
  • 7: Lech hit her seventh homer of the season. That is already tied for 19th most in a season in Maryland history. Lech is the first Terp since Sammi Stefan in 2019 to hit seven homers in a season. 
  • 7: Wyche has 10 or more Ks in seven games in her career, including three this season. 
  • 42: Wyche has 42 strikeouts in her last four games with 10 or more three times.
