Terps Take Down GW 9-6 Thanks To Explosive Eighth Inning

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland utilized an explosive eighth-inning rally to defeat George Washington (5-17), 9-6 on Tuesday Evening.

The Terps (12-8) saw the bats come alive in the bottom of the eighth, as hits from Luke Shliger and Nick Lorusso tied the game before a three-run home run from Matt Woods gave the Terps an 8-5 lead. Kevin Keister added an insurance run launching a deep solo shot into deep center to give the Terps a 9-5 lead going into the top of the final frame.
Maryland was effective in relief as Kenny Lippman and Dave Falco combined for three strikeouts, allowing just one hit in five innings. Nigel Belgrave finished the game, striking out a single batter and collecting the final three outs for the Terps.

Bobby Zmarzlark continued to find his form at the plate going three-for-four and coming just a home run shy of the cycle recording a single, double, and triple on Tuesday.

George Washington was lead by Michael Kohn whose grand slam in the top of the second inning gave the Colonials a 4-2 lead which they held until the bottom of the eighth.
