Terps Bounce-Back In Dominant Fashion, Defeating UCF, 16-6

ORLANDO, FL – Maryland (13-9) evened up this weekend's series against UCF (16-7) on Saturday night with a 16-6 win at John Euliano Park in Orlando, Florida.

The Terps used a pair of four-run innings on Saturday to blow the game wide open, first in the top of the fourth after the score was tied at 2-2. Nick Lorusso, the RBI leader in the Big Ten, added to his total tonight with four RBIs, the first two coming off a two-run homer to dead center field, his eighth of the season.  Lorusso tied his Terps career high with three-hits, his 15th three-hit games in his career.

The middle innings of Saturday made the difference for Maryland, scoring 12 of its 16 runs between the fourth and seventh innings: the two four-run innings in the fourth and seventh and a three-run fifth to extend the Terps' lead at that point to 9-4.

Maryland hit four home runs in the win from three different players: Elijah Lambros, Lorusso, Ian Petrutz and Matt Shaw. It was a hitting frenzy for the Terps, recording 18 hits in the win. Six players recorded multi-hit games, six scored multiple runs and four recorded multiple RBI on Saturday.

He allowed two hits and struck out three in one of his best outings of the season. Maryland pitching gave up just two runs after the third inning, striking out 10 UCF batters in total.
