COLLEGE PARK, MD. - The University of Maryland softball team will close out its tournament road slate with a trip to Lynchburg, Va. for the Flames Classic. The Terps begin their weekend with a double header against Fairfield on Friday, followed by a pair of games against Ball State and Sacred Heart on Saturday. Maryland will play against tournament-host Liberty in the weekend finale on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Sunday's game against Liberty will be streamed on ESPN+..

  • ​​Fairfield has opened up its 2023 season with a 3-5 overall record. The Stags have recorded victories against Monmouth and Stetson.
  • Sacred Heart is off to a 5-5 start in the 2023 season. The Pioneers are coming off of a 3-2 weekend in the Red and Black Tournament hosted by Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C. 
  • Ball State is 8-7 through its first 15 games of the season. The Cardinals have posted 3-2 records in their previous two road tournaments.
  • Liberty is 10-9 on the 2023 season. The Flames enter the weekend on a nine game winning streak, most recently taking down Virginia in a midweek matchup.

  • The Terps finished their weekend in Greenville, N.C.with a 5-0 record in the Pirate Invitational, hosted by East Carolina.
  • Maryland outscored its opponents 38-2 over a five-game span.
  • For the first time since the 2003 season, the Terps posted four consecutive shutouts.
  • Four different Terps recorded home runs this weekend, including two from Mackense Greico in the weekend finale against East Carolina.
