COLLEGE PARK, MD - Maryland will face No. 1 seed Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship on Saturday, May 6 at 8:00 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network with Dean Linke and Taylor Thornton on the call. The Terps are the reigning Big Ten Tournament Champions and have won four of seven Big Ten Tournaments.

- The Terps are coming off a 15-9 win over No. 6 seed Rutgers in the Big Ten Semifinals, led by seven points from Chrissy Thomas (one goal, six assists). Maryland started the game off on an 8-0 run, fueled by Thomas and six saves by Emily Sterling.
- Maryland had seven All-Big Ten honorees, the conference announced last Wednesday. Shaylan Ahearn, Abby Bosco, Eloise Clevenger and Emily Sterling were all named First Team selections and Kori Edmondson, Brianna Lamoureux and Libby May were all selected to the Second Team.
- The Terps have won 11 of their last 13 games, outscoring its opponents 180-110 over that stretch.

50th Season of maryland women's lacrosse
- The 2023 season will be the 50th season of Maryland women's lacrosse, a program that has been the most successful in the entire sport since its start.
- Maryland has won 15 national championships and 31 conference championships. The Terps have participated in 28 Final Fours, including 12 of the last 13 and have won 12 of the last 28 national championships, including seven-straight from 1995-2001. Maryland has an all-time program record of 773-155-3 through 49 seasons.
The Boss: Tewaaraton nominee
- Graduate defender Abby Bosco was selected as a top-25 nominee for lacrosse's most prestigious honor, the Tewaaraton Award, the foundation announced last week.
- Bosco leads the Maryland defense, which has held 12 opponents to single digit goals this season.
- The graduate captain stands second in the Big Ten and 13th in the nation with 38 caused turnovers, ranks fourth in the Big Ten with 40 groundballs and has the fifth-most draw controls in the conference with 82.

- Maryland has been dominant on the draw circle through 19 games, standing with the third-best draw control percentage in the nation, winning 62.5 percent of all draw controls this season. The Terps have recorded 16.21 draw controls per game this season, the 13th-best mark in the nation. Shaylan Ahearn stands 10th in the country and leads the Big Ten with 129 draw controls.
- In the Terps game against Ohio State, Ahearn helped the Terps win the draw control battle by a staggering 19-3 mark and recorded the 300th draw control of her career with her seventh of the game, only the fourth Terp in program history to tally 300 draw controls. Ahearn has jumped from seventh to fourth on the Maryland draw control career rankings this season and is only 13 behind Lizzie Colson (2017-21) for third all-time.
- Ahearn's 129 draw controls this season currently stands as the fifth-best mark in program history and is only 15 draw controls away from Taylor Cummings single season program record of 144 (2015).
- Another Terp, Abby Bosco, also eclipsed the 200 draw control mark at Villanova and now has 248 in her career. 167 of those have come as a Terp, 81 at Penn, where she played from 2018-21.

- The Terps have four Big Ten Tournament championships, winning in three straight seasons from 2016-18 and last season, 2022. Maryland is 13-3 all-time in the Big Ten Tournament and has made the championship game in every season except for 2015.
- Maryland has won 15 Conference Tournament Championships in program history, with 10 of those coming since Cathy Reese became the head coach in 2007 (six ACC, four Big Ten). The Terps took home six-straight ACC titles from 2009-14 and three-straight B1G titles from 2016-18.
- Reese is 28-5 as the coach of Maryland in conference tournament games and the Terps are 58-9 against Big Ten opponents since joining the conference in 2015.

- Head Coach Cathy Reese enters her 17th season at the helm of Maryland women's lacrosse. The winningest coach in program history, Reese is 316-39 as head coach and has led the Terps to five National Championships, 12 Final Fours and 22 Conference Championships.
- Maryland is 168-6 at home under Reese, with nine undefeated home campaigns in the last 11 seasons (2013, '14, '15, '16, '17, '18, '19, '21).
- Reese is 58-9 against Big Ten opponents since joining the conference in 2015 and 9-5 against Northwestern.

- Maryland leads the all-time series with Northwestern, 18-11 and has beaten the Wildcats in many memorable games, including the 2019 NCAA Semifinals, the 2016 & 2017 Big Ten Tournament Championship, the 2015 NCAA Quarterfinals, the 2014 NCAA Semifinals and the 2010 National Championship.
- This is the fifth time Maryland and Northwestern have met in the Big Ten Championship with the Terps winning in 2016 & 2017 and Northwestern winning in 2019 & 2021.
