No. 3 Terps Take 1-0 Win over No. 17 Boston College in Overtime

Box Score COLLEGE PARK, MD – Josie Hollamon delivered the game-sealing overtime goal as No. 3 Maryland topped No. 17 Boston College in a hot, Sunday afternoon battle.

The game remained deadlocked for the entirety of regulation, but the Terps endured and converted on a penalty corner to close out game two of the B1G/ACC Challenge and secure their fourth victory of the season.

It was a back-and-forth, defense-dominant game for the entirety of regulation. Maryland had a number of close opportunities and missed connections, including good looks from Maddie Vasilios, Hannah Boss, Sammy Popper, and Hope Rose.

Terps goalkeeper Alyssa Klebasko made a number of impressive plays and did a good job supporting her offensive, finishing with three saves.
Breaking Down The Action

  • Maryland put up six shots in the first quarter, including two from Sammy Popper.
  • Boston College dominated the stat column in the second quarter with five shots, yet Maryland's keeper Alyssa Klebasko delivered three saves to keep the game scoreless going into halftime.
  • Hannah Boss notched a pair of shots in the early part of the third quarter, but she could not convert for a score.
  • Chaos following a Maryland penalty corner resulted in what looked like a goal from Margot Lawn, but it was called back, keeping the score deadlocked at 0-0.
  • Maci Bradford slapped a hopeful shot with less than two minutes left in regulation, but Boston College's Caroline Kelly made another key save to force overtime.
  • In the early minutes of overtime, Maryland finally put one through on a penalty corner. Hannah Boss placed the corner perfectly for Josie Hollamon to smack it into the back of the goal.
