Terps Lose Heartbreaker To LMU, 4-3, In Extra Innings

Box Score LOS ANGELES -- After Maryland scored twice in the eighth inning to take a 3-1 lead, Loyola Marymount countered by scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning to escape with a 4-3 win, on Saturday.
Megan Mikami drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning with bases loaded and two outs. She delivered with her third single of the day and the Terps took a one-run advantage. Jaeda McFarland was later hit by a pitch, scoring another run to put Maryland in the driver's seat heading into the bottom of the inning.
However, LMU rallied in the bottom of the eighth inning by scoring on a walk-off single down the right-field line.

Julia Shearer was strong in her first start with the Terps despite the losing effort. She tossed a complete game going 7.2 innings, allowing seven hits and walking two batters.
McFarland drove in the Terps' first and only run during the first seven innings with an RBI triple in the third. Mikami went 3-for-5 with three singles, including her game-winning hit.

LMU picked up its first win of the season. The matchup against LMU was Maryland's fourth game in the last two days. The Terps have another opportunity against LMU tomorrow to wrap up the weekend in Los Angeles.
