Terps Open Road Stretch At Wisconsin
  • Wisconsin leads all-time series 13-8 including a 6-2 mark in Madison. The Terps last won at the Kohl Center on Dec. 28, 2020 (70-64).
  • The teams split their home-and-home meets last season with Maryland picking up a 73-55 win at the XFINITY Center in late January. This will be the only regular-season match-up between the squads this year.
  • Jahmir Young tallied a game-high 28 points and Julian Reese produced his 14th double-double of the year with 18 points and 11 rebounds, but No. 14 Illinois held off the Terps for an 85-80 road win on Saturday at the XFINITY Center.
  • Maryland has two Quad 1 wins on the year, three Quad 2 wins, and has three road wins (3rd-best in the Big Ten). Despite being 2-7 in Quad 1 games, the Terps have had four decided by one possession or overtime (1-3).
  • Defensively, Maryland has been outstanding allowing 70-or-fewer points in 14 of its last 17 games. The Terps have held the top five scoring teams in the conference to an average of 21 points under their yearly average.
  • Jahmir Young finished with 28 points, nine rebounds, and six assists against Illinois. The only Maryland player to match those numbers since 1996-97 is Greivis Vasquez, who had 35 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in an 88-85 overtime win over No. 3 North Carolina on February 21, 2009. The only other Division I player to match those stats against a ranked team this season is Providence's Devin Carter (28/11/6 vs. No. 19 Creighton on February 7).
  • The Illinois game was the first time Maryland has had three players with 15+ points and 5+ rebounds against a ranked team since four Terrapins did it against No. 7 Duke on February 12, 2005 (Travis Garrison, John Gilchrist, Mike Jones, Chris McCray).
  • Maryland allows opponents to shoot 37.4 percent from three-point range during the first half, but then holds them to 28.2 percent in the second. That 9.2 percent decrease is the second largest among major conference teams (Missouri – 9.3). Maryland held Illinois to 0-for-8 from three-point range in the second half after allowing Iowa to convert just 1-of-9.
