McFarland’s Five Hits Carry Terps To 9-1 Win

Box Score DELAND, FL –  Jaeda McFarland had a career day going 5-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored as Maryland softball crushed Green Bay on Saturday, 9-1, at the Stetson Invitational. The Terps scored multiple runs in three different innings while McFarland recorded a career-high five hits. 
  Maryland pounded out a season-high 14 hits in the game. Mazie MacFarlane went 3-for-3 with a run, Megan Mikami went 2-for-4 and scored three runs, Diamond Williams went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs and Sydney Lewis went 2-for-4 with a career-high three RBIs. 

Genevieve Ebaugh pitched her first career complete game. She allowed just one run and three hits while striking out six batters.  
  The Terps (5-8) scored two runs in the first and second innings and added three runs in the sixth inning. Jaeda McFarland hit a triple in the sixth inning and now has 15 triples in her career which is a program record. 
  Green Bay's (2-6) two hits came from Hailey Heckenlaible, Samantha Saloun and Gianna Camacho

Breaking Down The Action
  • Sydney Lewis doubled to right center to score Diamond Williams and Jaeda McFarland in the first inning. Green Bay added a run with an RBI double of its own. The score was Maryland leading 2-1 entering the second. 
  • Maryland scored two more runs in the second inning as Genevieve Ebaugh hit a sacrifice fly to score Mazie MacFarlane. McFarland then singled to score Michaela. The Terps led 4-1 entering the third inning. 
  • Williams hit an RBI single in the fourth inning to score Megan Mikami. The Terps quickly grabbed a 5-1 lead. 
  • McFarland tripled in the sixth inning to score Mikami. It was McFarland's 15th career triple, which is a program record. Williams then singled to score McFarland and Lewis singled to bring home Williams. Maryland scored three runs in the inning and led 8-1.
  • The Terps added an insurance run in the seventh on a double by McFarland that scored Mikami. The Terrapins ended the game with a dominant 9-1 victory.

  • Jaeda McFarland hit a triple in the sixth inning to add to her school record for most in a career. She now has 15 career triples.
