Maryland Athletics Sets Giving Day Mark To Lead Campus-Wide Record-Setting Day

Over 600 donors from 32 different states and Washington D.C. gave to key areas of support.

COLLEGE PARK, MD - This week, the University of Maryland raised over $4.2 million in philanthropic support during its annual Giving Day event, with Maryland Athletics claiming the top spot among all participating units with more than $569,000 raised.

The one-day, campus-wide fundraising tradition brings together dozens of departments and organizations to raise critical funding and engage the community to advance the mission of the University of Maryland. For Maryland Athletics, this is supported by investments in scholarships, facilities, and other resources needed to enhance the student-athlete experience and remain competitive in a constantly evolving intercollegiate athletics landscape.

"Thank you to all of our supporters who stepped up on Giving Day to contribute to Maryland Athletics," said Damon Evans, Barry P. Gossett Director of Athletics. "Our successes on and off the playing fields and courts wouldn't be possible without our amazing and supportive Terp Nation. We are grateful to everyone who helped make Giving Day 2024 one of the best ever."

Over 600 donors from 32 different states and Washington D.C. gave to key areas of support, including the Terrapin Club Impact Fund, Building Champions athletic facility campaign, sport-specific funds, as well as One Maryland Collective - the official NIL entity for Maryland Athletics.

Of the 20 athletic teams the University of Maryland supports, baseball, field hockey, football, men's lacrosse, and women's golf were among the five most supported programs. The head coach of every athletic team on campus also contributed a donation on Giving Day.

"Giving Day is a special day for Terps across the country to come together and support the student-athletes representing the University of Maryland," said Kirby Mills, Senior Associate Athletic Director, and Chief Development Officer at the university. "The resources raised on Giving Day allow us to provide an unrivaled student-athlete experience that will help support our athletic programs."
