Omar Melendez started on the mound and pitched a season-high six innings to go along with a season-high six strikeouts. He allowed just two runs before Kenny Lippman entered the game and pitched the remaining three scoreless innings, picking up his first save of the season.

Nebraska (24-12, 7-4 B1G) scored its lone runs in the fourth and sixth innings. Ben Columbus hit a solo home run and a sacrifice fly.

  Swope's Take
"Omar just did enough working ahead and keeping them off balance all day," head coach Matt Swope said. He's a seasoned veteran. He has a lot of experience starting and he gave us the spark that we needed today. Just a really good complete team win overall versus a really good team to even the series and we'll see id we can take it tomorrow."
