Terps Lose Series Finale At Ohio State, 3-2

COLUMBUS, OH – Maryland softball lost its series finale to Ohio State, 3-2, at Buckeye Field on Sunday. 

The Terps rallied late, scoring all of their runs in the sixth inning. Jaeda McFarland drove one home with a sacrifice fly and Mazie MacFarlane drove home the other with a single. Maryland is now 18-27 overall and 4-13 in Big Ten play. Ohio State improved to 27-17 and 8-9 in the conference. 

Courtney Wyche made her second appearance of the series in the circle. She pitched her 16th complete game of the season and struck out five batters. Wyche also allowed just three hits. 

Kami Kortokrax hit a two-run homer in the first and the Buckeyes added one run in the fifth. Allison Smith pitched 5.2 innings and struck out six batters. She surrendered the two runs before Emily Ruck pitched the remaining 1.1 innings and earned the save.
