COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland baseball was defeated by Penn State, 6-5, in 10 innings during game one of its Senior Day doubleheader at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium on Friday.
Maryland (34-21, 10-13 B1G) and Penn State (25-23, 11-12 B1G) remained tied at 5-5 since the top of the seventh inning. However, the Nittany Lions plated the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th, and the Terps were unable to bring in the tying run in the bottom half. The game featured five lead changes.
Sam Hojnar homered twice in a game for the fourth time this season. He hit a solo shot in the second and a two-run homer in the fifth. He now has 16 home runs on the season to lead the team. Hojnar also set a new single-season career-high with 57 RBIs, which also leads the team. He finished the game with three RBIs and two runs, going 2-for-5.
Devin Russell was the other Terp to homer and drive in a run in the game. He hit a solo home run, his ninth of the season, in the fourth inning. Eddie Hacopian went 2-for-5 with two doubles and a run.
Kenny Lippman went 2.2 scoreless innings in relief while striking out four batters and surrendering two hits.
Logan Koester started on the mound, pitched 6.2 innings and matched his season high with five strikeouts.

- Penn State scored a run in the top of the 10th to take a 6-5 advantage, the sixth lead change of the game.
