Fan Development & Event Marketing Assistant

SUMMARY:  The University of Maryland is seeking qualified applications for the position of Fan Development & Event Marketing Assistant. 

The position will work as a member of the Maryland Athletics Fan Development & Event Marketing staff, assisting with developing creative marketing programs and activities which cultivate interest and support from University groups, the community, and local businesses for the University's athletic department.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This individual will oversee marketing initiatives and game production for assigned sports with a key focus on increasing fan attendance, elevating the game day atmosphere, and enhancing the Maryland brand. This position will also assist with marketing operations and event marketing efforts for Football and Men's or Women's Basketball; supervise a lead marketing intern; and assist with various other duties as assigned by the marketing staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree preferred in sports administration, marketing, advertising or another related field. Must have at least 1 year of marketing experience, including undergraduate internships, preferably in a collegiate athletics environment. Must have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to formulate and implement marketing and promotional strategies to effectively sell athletic programs. Must be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.

POSITION CLASSIFICATION:  Full-Time (maximum one-year appointment)

SALARY:  Paid at an hourly rate of $18.00. There is the potential to earn overtime pay.
