Terrapin Family,
We hope that you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy during this uncertain time.
Like all of you, Maryland Athletics is facing an extraordinary challenge. We recognize the significant hardships caused by the emergence of COVID-19, and, in consideration of this unprecedented situation, we feel that it is important to be flexible.
As such, we have made adjustments to our Terrapin Club, football, and men's and women's basketball season ticket timelines and refund policies for the 2020-21 athletic season, which are detailed below.
We will communicate all updates as they are available.
Big Ten Statement on 2020-21 Fall Season (Sept. 16)
The Big Ten Council of Presidents and Chancellors (COP/C) adopted significant medical protocols including daily antigen testing, enhanced cardiac screening and an enhanced data-driven approach when making decisions about practice/competition. The COP/C voted unanimously to resume the football season starting the weekend of October 23-24, 2020.
Football Tickets
The 2020 Maryland football season began on Oct. 24. Teams are scheduled to play a nine-game, conference-only schedule.
Under guidance from the Big Ten Conference and Prince George's County Health Department,
fans will not be admitted to Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium and tailgating on campus will be strictly prohibited.
There will be no
football season tickets for the 2020 season. It is our hope that we may be able to welcome some fans to home games as the season progresses and health conditions permit. If and when fan attendance is permitted, we have established some new measures for this season:
- Convert your season ticket purchase into a donation to the Terrapin Club (Seating Fund), which allows us to provide scholarships, academic support, medical care, and mental health services for every one of our student-athletes. As an added incentive, we are offering double Terpoints (16 points per $100) to those who choose this option.
- Receive a 110% Ticket Credit, applicable to any ticket purchases made through December 2021. This includes any football games played in the spring, 2021 football season tickets, or any other home, regular season Maryland Athletics event.
- Request a refund
Men's Basketball Season Tickets
As previously announced,
we are postponing our planned Men's Basketball Seat Adjustment until Spring 2021. A full timeline of the 2021 Seat Adjustment will be announced at a later date.
Terrapin Club members who renew their season tickets and donation by the June 30, 2020 deadline will have the opportunity to request a seat upgrade for the 2020-21 season through the renewal process. The seat upgrade will provide interested members with an online appointment time based on Terpoint priority. Seat upgrade appointments will take place the week of July 20 and will feature a 3D map and an interactive seating chart to help visualize the view of the court.
While there will be no full seat adjustment this year, this online seat upgrade process will afford those members who have improved their Terpoint priority rank the chance to better their seat location for the 2020-21 season.
If you have any questions, please contact the Terrapin Club at 301.314.7020 or
tclub@umd.edu.
The same refund policy, as noted in the "Football Season Tickets" Section, will apply.
Women's Basketball Season Tickets
The season ticket renewal deadline has been extended until June 30, 2020. Fans can renew their season tickets via their online application or by contacting the Terrapin Ticket Office at
301-314-7070. Fans can indicate seat upgrade requests on their online applications. All upgrades will be handled in Terpoint priority order beginning July 13th
The same refund policy, as noted in the "Football Season Tickets" Section, will apply.
Mobile/Digital Ticketing
Maryland Athletics will shift entirely to digital ticketing for football and basketball beginning with the 2020 fall season. Digital ticketing will allow for contactless entry into athletic venues, offering fans greater convenience, flexibility and safety in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The many benefits of mobile ticketing include the opportunity to securely manage, transfer, or resell your tickets directly from your smartphone. Mobile ticketing also protects the integrity of tickets, improving protection against fraud as well as never having to worry about tickets being lost in the mail.
Terrapin Club
Donations to the Terrapin Club fund the scholarships and support 500+ Maryland student-athletes. Contributions to the Terrapin Club are non-refundable.Â
This is a difficult situation, and we understand that we are unable to provide the perfect solution for everyone. That said, any updates or changes to the above plans will be made with our fans in mind. If adjustments are made, we will proactively communicate them with you as soon as possible.
Though times are uncertain, we know that your continued support and belief in One Maryland will bring us back together again. As you always have, we know that you will be there to cheer us on when that time comes.
Until then, please keep yourselves and your loved ones safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
Maryland Athletics
