Maryland women's basketball head coach Brenda Frese welcomed Jessica Imhof to the staff in the fall of 2020 as the Director of Scouting and Player Development. In the summer of 2023, Imhof was promoted to the Director of Scouting/Assistant Coach role, taking on additional coaching responsibilities.
In her four seasons in College Park, Imhof has helped the Terps to a record of 121-41 (.747) and the 2021 Big Ten Tournament and regular season titles. In her three seasons in College Park, Imhof has helped the Terrapins to four Sweet Sixteens in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025 and the 2023 Elite Eight.
In her first season, 2020-21, after losing all five starters, Imhof helped the Terrapins to an amazing season in which they went 26-3 overall, 17-1 in Big Ten play and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. The Terrapins led the nation in scoring with 90.8 points per game en route to winning the 2021 Big Ten regular season and tournament titles.
In 2022-23, the Terrapins brought in a roster with nine newcomers after losing four of five starters to graduation and transfers. Imhof and the staff implemented new systems. Picked to finish fourth in the Big Ten and No. 17 in the preseason AP poll, the Terps surpassed all expecations, winning 28 games and picking up nine wins over ranked teams, including wins over No. 6 UConn, at No. 7 Notre Dame and over No. 7 Iowa. The Terps finished second in the Big Ten and advanced to the program's first Elite Eight since 2015.
Prior to coming to Maryland, Imhof spent a season at North Carolina as the Director of Scouting and Video Operations. In her time at Chapel Hill, Imhof oversaw the program’s scouting responsibilities, organized team film, cut practice and game film, reviewed analytics, drew plays, and had an active role with the Tar Heels’ offense and special situations.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jessica to our Maryland family,” Frese said. “She has built an incredible resume and is someone who will hit the ground running in our program. She is going to bring so much to our team and program. She is so talented, experienced and advanced in the game and I can’t wait to have her by our side day in and day out. She’s a rising star and we are so excited she has decided to join our staff to help us compete to be the very best.”
“It is an honor to join the Maryland women’s basketball team and athletic community,” Imhof said. “The standard of excellence that Coach Frese has established here is inspirational and I’m looking forward to helping the program with continued success. Maryland is the perfect blend of academics and athletics, and I am grateful Coach Frese has provided me the opportunity to work alongside her and the incredible staff she’s assembled.
Before North Carolina, Imhof worked one season at Princeton University as the Director of Basketball Operations. During the 2018-2019 campaign, the Tigers reached the NCAA Tournament after winning the Ivy League regular season and tournament titles.
Prior to her move to Princeton, Imhof spent three seasons (2015-2018) at Virginia Commonwealth University. She was the Administrative Assistant for four months before being promoted to Video Coordinator for the next three seasons.
Before VCU, she was a two-year graduate assistant for the Elmira College women’s basketball team where she was involved in every facet of the program’s operation. During her tenure, Imhof served as the program’s Recruiting Coordinator and organized national recruiting efforts to bring in back-to-back All-Conference Rookie of the Year selections.
In 2012-13, Imhof was on the bench of The College of New Jersey’s women’s basketball team, serving as an Assistant Coach to her alma mater. As an Assistant Coach, she was responsible for the recruitment of players, film breakdown, game preparation, and designing workouts for the perimeter players. She also collaborated with the head coach on decisions during games.
Imhof played four seasons for the Lions, helping them reach the NCAA Division III National Semifinal game in 2009. She was a first-team All-Conference performer and finished her career ranked in the top 10 in numerous statistical categories. She graduated from TCNJ in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Business and a minor in Sociology.
