Maryland women’s basketball head coach Brenda Frese welcomed Kelsey Wolfe to her staff as Associate Director of Basketball Performance in the summer of 2022.
Wolfe, who played at Virginia, oversees the Terrapins’ strength and conditioning, fitness and recovery.
For the last two seasons, Wolfe served as the Strength and Conditioning Coach and Director of Player Development for women’s basketball at Navy.
"I am excited to welcome Kelsey into our Maryland family,” Frese said. “Kelsey was a great player who I recruited and watched play at UVA. She also interned in our program. She is a rising star. Kelsey will have an immediate impact on our student-athletes as she has been in their shoes and can relate to each of them. This is Kelsey's dream job and I'm thrilled for her to be a part of something so special.”

Prior to her time at Navy, Wolfe spent two seasons at Old Dominion as the Assistant Director of Basketball Performance for women’s basketball, volleyball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and women’s rowing teams. Wolfe created and designed individualized training packages for the Monarchs’ women’s basketball, volleyball, swimming & diving and rowing programs. Specifics of her sport performance work, included working with student-athletes and staff in the area of nutrition and implementing prehab protocols prior to training sessions. Wolfe was also responsible for managing and overseeing strength and conditioning interns throughout her time in Norfolk.
Wolfe spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Virginia for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. She interned with the Maryland women’s basketball program in strength and conditioning in the 2015-16 season.
Wolfe was a four-year student-athlete at the University of Virginia. Competing in 113 games during time as a guard with the Cavaliers, Wolfe capped her career by being named the team captain as a senior, as well as earning the Christine J. Toretti Women’s Basketball Scholarship for the 2013-14 season. As the team captain, Wolfe was the only Cavalier to start every game that season, while leading the ACC in free throw percentage (89.5%). Additionally, she led Virginia with 88 assists as a senior. For her career, Wolfe scored 758 points with 190 assists and 110 steals.
Wolfe is a native of Germantown, Maryland and was a four-time Team MVP at Seneca Valley High School. She was the Washington Post’s 2010 All-Metro Player of the Year and led her squad to the Maryland 3A State Championship. She’s Seneca Valley’s all-time leading scorer with 1,809 points. Wolfe graduated from the University of Virginia in 2014 with a degree in Kinesiology before later attaining her Master’s in Exercise Physiology from Virginia in 2018.
Wolfe and her wife, Katie, have a daughter, Carson.
