WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Trina Maso de Moya and Jessica Hood each posted 10 kills, leading Wake Forest (14-5, 3-3 ACC) to a 16-14, 15-0, 15-6 win over Maryland (9-10, 2-3 ACC) in volleyball action tonight at Reynolds Gym.
Wake Forest raced out to a 7-0 advantage in the opening game, but the Terps rallied to take an 11-10 lead. Maryland had a chance to close out the game, up 14-13, but the Deacons rallied to score the last three points to win 16-14.
In the second game, the Deacons were in total control throughout, handing Maryland a 15-0 setback. Wake Forest then closed out the match with a 15-6 victory in the third game.
The Terps were led by Beth Murphy, who recorded nine kills. Kate Hannas turned in 10 digs and Lindsay Davey tallied 26 assists.
Maryland travels to Duke tomorrow for a 7:30 p.m. match against the Blue Devils.
