COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Senior Jamie Wu (St. Charles, Ill.) a second team All-ACC offensive guard, has been selected to play in the Blue-Gray All-Star Classic, to be held on Christmas Day.
The annual all-star game featuring top seniors from around the country will be contested at Crampton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala. Kickoff is noon ET. The game will be televised by ABC.
Wu, a Terp co-captain, was a key cog in a Maryland offensive unit that finished 12th nationally in rushing (231.4 ypg) and led the Atlantic Coast Conference in fewest sacks allowed (11). Wu was instrumental in junior All-America tailback LaMont Jordan rushing for a single-season record 1,632 yards and quarterback Calvin McCall finishing second among all NCAA Division I-A freshman quarterbacks in passing efficiency.
A 6-2, 285-pounder, Wu started all 22 games during the 1998 and '99 seasons. Wu was named the ACC's offensive lineman of the week for his performance in Maryland's 45-7 victory over North Carolina Oct. 23. At the team's postseason awards banquet, Wu was honored as the Terps' top offensive lineman in addition to winning the Cook Award as the senior with the highest grade point average.
