February 22, 1999

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Deedee Warley averaged 13.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in three ACC games last week to be named the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. Warley's 20 points and six rebounds helped Maryland to a 92-79 win over Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon to help secure a seventh-place tie in the ACC and earn the #7 seed in this week's ACC Tournament in Charlotte.

Maryland meets Wake Forest at 6 p.m. on Friday evening at Independence Arena. Live radio coverage can be heard on WMUC Radio (650-AM and 88.1-FM).

Warley led Maryland with 13 points and nine rebounds in a six-point loss at Florida State last Thursday before shooting 9 of 12 to score 20 points with six rebounds against the Yellow Jackets.

On the week, she shot 54.8 percent from the floor (17 of 31) with two games of 50 percent or better. She currently leads Maryland with a 13.4-point scoring average while bidding to become just the fourth freshman in Terrapin history to lead the club in scoring.
