COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- University of Maryland's women's basketball schedule has undergone a small handful of changes over recent weeks including a change in international exhibition opponents, announced late Tuesday.
The Terps original schedule reflected an exhibition game with Slovakia on Nov. 3, however the date has been changed to Sunday, Nov. 1 with a 4 p.m. tipoff. The opponent for that game was changed yesterday. Maryland will face the Tapiolan Honka Club of Finland, instead.
The opponent for the Nov. 6 exhibition date has also changed. It was determined this week that the touring team from Sweden has been replaced by a similar team from Kazakistan (a former republic of the Soviet Union).
Other changes within recent weeks include the opening round of the Terrapin Classic on Monday, Dec. 28. Tipoff for both games has been moved ahead by one hour. Richmond meets Massachusetts at Cole Field House at 4:30 p.m., and Maryland hosts Coppin State in first round action at 6:30.
A game time has also been determined for Marylands Jan. 10 Atlantic Coast Conference game at North Carolina which was originally listed as TBA. The Terps and Tar Heels will tip off at 4 p.m.
The Maryland womens team opens its preseason slate in nine days with Midnight Madness festivities, in conjunction with the Terrapin mens team, on the evening of Friday, October 16. Midnight Madness activities at Cole Field House are free and open to the public, beginning at 9:30 p.m. and concluding shortly after midnight.
The first official practice for the Terps, and the start of Chris Wellers 24th season as head coach, is tentatively scheduled for the morning of Oct. 17 at Ritchie Coliseum.
