WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The University of Maryland women's tennis team dominated Alabama by winning five singles and two doubles matches for a 7-2 victory at the McCormack-Nagelson Tennis Center on the William and Mary campus.
Sophomore Chrissie Terrill (Plano, Tex./The Hockaday School) kept her spring dual record perfect at 5-0 by knocking off the Crimson Tide's Jenny Ketchum by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
Other Terps involved in the Maryland charge were senior Meg Griffin (Topeka, Kan,/Topeka West) and juniors Lorraine Bittles (Nashville, Tenn./Brentwood Academy) and Stacy Walkowitz (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Springs), who swept the top three playing slots respectively. Freshman Courtney Perkins (Seattle, Wash./Mt. Ranier) was also a winner at No. 6.
The top two doubles teams of Griffin-Bittles and Walkowitz-Terrill extended their undefeated doubles record to 4-0 on the year.
Maryland improves to 4-1 on the season as Alabama falls to 3-2. Maryland hosts West Virginia on Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Tennis Bubble in College Park beginning at 1:00 p.m.
