Women's Tennis Blanked by ASU, 8-0

TEMPE, Ariz. - The 15th-ranked Arizona State women's tennis team concluded its five-match homestand with an 8-0 win over No. 41 Maryland at the Whiteman Tennis Center today.

The Sun Devils (8-5, 0-2 Pac-10) swept singles play as well as the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. No. 1 doubles was not played. Freshman Allison Bradshaw, who had recently jumped up in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings to No. 36, defeated No. 49 Meg Griffin, 6-3, 7-6 (3), to notch her 21st singles victory of the season. No. 70 Kerry Giardino improved her record to 19-8, including a 7-2 mark playing the No. 4 singles position for the Devils, with a three set win over Maryland's Lorraine Bittles 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.

ASU's doubles team of Celena McCoury and Alison Nash defeated Griffin and Chrissie Terrill 8-4, while Sun Devils Faye DeVera and Ana Lucia Pereyra teamed to beat Courtney Perkins and Adrienne Paveiko 8-5.
