Volleyball Team Defeats George Mason In Four Games

COLLEGE PARK, MD. - Senior outside hitter Beth Murphy (Golden, Colo.) smashed 20 kills and posted 11 assists, leading Maryland (5-5) to a 15-6, 10-15, 15-3, 15-8 win over George Mason (2-4) in volleyball action Tuesday night at Ritchie Coliseum.

Murphy hit .378 against the Patriots, posting only six errors in 37 attack attempts. Junior middle hitter Maren Stuart (Tampa, Fla.) had 15 kills and tied a career-high with nine total blocks. Senior outside hitter Kate Hannas (Ellicott City, Md.) turned in a 10-kill, 18-dig performance, and sophomore setter Libby Alberts (Eden Prairie, Minn.) dished out 41 assists.

George Mason was led by Natalie Torres-Tirado, who posted 15 kills, and Shelbylynn McBride, who had 14 kills.

The Terps will be back in action against Delaware this Friday at 7 p.m. in the opening day of the Maryland Tournament.
