NC State Out-Duals Maryland For First Place In ACC Wrestling, 25-9

RALEIGH, N.C. -- With wins in seven of 10 matches, NC State scored a 25-9 dual victory over Maryland in Atlantic Coast Conference wrestling, Saturday afternoon at Reynolds Coliseum.

With the victory, the Wolfpack improved to 5-2 in dual matches, 2-0 in the ACC, while Maryland fell to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the ACC.

Maryland's Mark Mansueto (11-8) defeated NC State freshman Oraefo Brown (6-8) by a 5-2 score at 141 pounds to start the match, but the Wolfpack won the next six matches and seven of the next eight to easily pull away from the Terrapins. Tommy Davis (4-2 and ranked 14th nationally) got a 14-5 major decision over Grant Newman (9-4), and the Pack's Justin Parlier (3-8) edged Rob Booth (8-10) at 157, 11-10.

NC State then earned major decisions at 165, 174 and 184, respectively.

Maryland heavyweight Jeremy Duncan (15-13) pulled out a come-from-behind 11-8 win over NC State's Mike Mordarski (4-6), but the Pack's George Cintron (12-5) defeated Matt Pandullo (12-7) 10-3 at 125 to seal the win. Brandon York (25-5) got Maryland's final points with an 8-3 win over Damon Blackley (4-7) at 133.

The Terps host George Mason on Tuesday, Jan. 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Ritchie Coliseum.
