MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Freshman heavyweight Jeremy Duncan (Platte, Mo) plowed through the opening rounds of the Millersville Belles Tournament and fell just short in the championship match to take second place. Sophomore Brandon York (Gaithersburg, Md.) improved to 24-4 on the season at 133 pounds with a second-place finish of his own and redshirt sophomore Josh Weidman (Hershey, Pa.) took third at 165 pounds.
Maryland dominated the 133-pound division with York's second place finish and a fifth place performance by senior Rob Takseraas (Kings Park, N.Y.). York, who was the 1999 ACC Champion, opened the tournament with a pin of Mike Neenan of Syracuse in 3:25.
At heavyweight, Duncan pinned his first two opponents of the tournament. He stopped Jon Cox of Seton Hall in 1:58 and Millersville's Tyler Woolever in 4:27. Duncan was an All-American after winning the Missouri state championship for two straight years.
Seth Cameron of James Madison was named outstanding wrestler of the tournament after defeating Millersville's Andy Cote, 7-3, in the finals. Rutgers finished as the overall team champion (193.5) after putting four wrestlers in the final round.
The Terps (1-0) will resume their dual schedule on Tuesday at Navy beginning at 7 p.m.
