BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-- The women's tennis team dropped its fourth consecutive match this season losing to Marquette in Bloomington, Ind. With a final team score of 6-3, the Terps racked up two singles and one doubles win. Leading the team was freshman Delila Causevic (Silver Spring, Md.) in the No. 2 position.
Causevic defeated Laura Garcia by a score of 0-6, 6-3, 6-2. Jessica Johnson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) lost to Elisa Penalvo in the No. 1 position 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Competing in the No. 3 and 4 spots, senior Stacy Walkowitz (Coral Springs, Fla.) and junior Catherine Valantin (Metz, France) also both lost matches to Marquette. Sara Fernandez defeated Walkowitz 7-6, 6-1 and Valantin lost 6-2, 6-4 to Julia Sapozhnikova. Junior Chrissie Terrill (Plano, Tex.) won by a score of 6-2, 6-4 over Christine DiMasi.
Freshmen doubles team of Johnson/Causevic rallied to beat Penalvo/Garcia 8-5 capturing the Terp's third win of the day. Garcia and Anna Pavlovic defeated Terrill/Walkowitz in the No. 2 doubles position 8-5.
The women's tennis team will return home in two weeks to face Syracuse in the Tennis Bubble on March 4 at 3 p.m.
