ATLANTA, Ga.- Freshman Jessica Johnson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) earned another team-high today in Atlanta with her ninth victory of the season. Despite the wins of Johnson and freshman Delila Causevic (Silver Spring, Md.), the Terps (6-7, 0-3 ACC) were defeated 7-2 by the No. 33 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

The only Terrapin wins on the day came from Causevic and Johnson in the Nos. 1 and 2 singles positions. Causevic fought through a three-set match to defeat Sabrina Pardo at No. 1 by a score of 6-7, 7-5, 6-4. Johnson followed with an equally tough win over Mysti Morris 7-5, 2-6, 6-3. Senior Stacy Walkowitz (Coral Springs, Fla.) fell 6-1, 6-2 to Bobbi Guthrie. Competing in the Nos. 4 and 5 positions were Catherine Valantin (Metz, France) and Chrissie Terrill (Plano, Tex.). Both juniors dropped matches to the Yellow Jackets, Jaime Wong defeated Valantin 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 and Laura Ozolins won by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 over Terrill.

Competing as a pair for the first time since mid-February, Johnson and Causevic lost to Pardo and Guthrie 9-7 at the No. 1 doubles positions. The Terps forfeited doubles matches at Nos. 2 and 3.

Maryland will return to College Park on April 5 for a three-match homestand. The Terps will take on the Virginia Cavaliers on April 5 at 2:30 p.m. Maryland will then square off against North Carolina on April 8 and Duke on April 9.
