Stockton, Calif.- Sophomore setter Lindsay Davey (Aurora, Colo.) tallied a career-high 50 assists but Maryland lost Saturday night to Sacramento State 3-0 (12-15, 9-15, 14-16) in the final game for both schools at the Nike Invitational in Stockton, Calif.
Sophomore outside hitter Carey Brennan (Smithburg, Md.) smacked a team-high 19 kills and collected 21 digs for the Terrapins. Fellow sophomore Amanda Ayres (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) also chipped in with a career-high in kills (11) and digs (21).
Maryland falls to 0-3 while Sacramento State is 1-2. The Terps faced two nationally ranked teams this weekend at the Nike Invitational and two schools that made the 1999 NCAA tournament.
The Terrapins return to action Friday, Sept. 8 in the Columbia Invitational. Maryland will face Binghamton at 6:00 p.m. and then face host Columbia at 8:00 p.m.
