Women's Tennis Falls 5-2 to No. 16 William & Mary

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The women's tennis team (3-3, 0-0 ACC) fell 5-2 Saturday against the Tribe from William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. The Terps netted two singles victories and one doubles win but that was not enough to overcome the Tribe, who is currently ranked No. 16 by the ITA. Returning All-ACC selection Delila Causevic (Silver Spring, Md.) continues to lead the team in singles victories with four this season and 11 overall. Senior Catherine Valantin (Metz, France) has come back strong after a shoulder injury, earning both a singles and a doubles win against William & Mary.

The Tribe captured the doubles team point with two victories in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Valantin and freshman Chloe Chavardes (St. Nombreteche, France) earned the first Terp win with a defeat over the Tribe's Nina Kamp and Kelli Partlow 8-4 at the No. 3 doubles. Causevic garnered a singles win at the No. 1 spot with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Delphine Troch. The Tribe took the next four singles wins. Valantin won at No. 6 by a score of 6-2, 6-2 over Partlow, this is Valantin's first singles victory on the season.

The Terps are back in action on March 3 at home against Virginia Commonwealth. The match is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m., the site is to be determined.
