Kate Stepanek and Katie Redeker each had solid rounds for the University of Maryland Tuesday, earning top-10 finishes individually at the Edwin Watts / Palmetto Intercollegiate women's golf tournament.
Stepanek (Guilford, Conn.) had a 73 in the rain-delayed second round which was completed Tuesday, then finished the event with a 79 for a 9-over-par total of 225, good enough for a tie for ninth. Redeker (Pepper Pike, Ohio) scored a 74 and fired an even-par 72 over the final 18 holes to also finish in a tie for ninth at 225.
As a team, Maryland had identical rounds of 306 on Tuesday to finish sixth in a strong field that included a number of NCAA Tournament participants from a year ago. The Terps finished at 915, which was three shots out of fourth. Notre Dame shot a stellar 291 in the third round to win the team title at 892, 16 shots better than Texas Tech.
Marie Harper (West Point, Va.) had matching rounds of 79 Tuesday to finish in a tie for 24th at 232. Jessica Reno (Wilmington, Del.) scored a 76 in the third round to post her best round of the event, finshing in a tie for 28th at 233. Kristen Shew (Hockessin, Del.) tied for 55th at 241, posting an 80 in the final two rounds.
Adrienne Millican of East Carolina won the individual title at 1-over-par 217, shooting a 71 in the final round. Sofia Gorelik of Campbell was second at 219, while first-round leader Sapna Patel of Charleston shot 76 in the final two rounds to tie Coastal Carolina's Katy Heher for third at 220.
Rain forced the suspension of play in the middle of the second round Monday. The teams will finished the second round and played the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
The event marked the final tournament of the fall season for the Terrapins.
