Lynnsy Jones and Maria DiLivio had 15 kills each and the Terrapin volleyball team swept NC State, 3-0 (30-13, 30-18, 30-25), Thursday night in Reynolds Coliseum. With the victory, the Terrapins improved to 22-5 (11-2 ACC), while the Wolfpack fell to 7-21 (0-13 ACC).
The Terrapins controlled game one with a blistering .690 team attack percentage. Lynnsy Jones led all players with eight kills in game one and the Terrapins committed zero attack errors en route to the 30-13 victory.
Maryland continued its offensive attack in the second game, hitting .559 as a team. Maria DiLivio led all players with seven kills in game two and the Terps earned the 30-18 second-game victory. Serving well was a strong point for the Terrapins all night, as four players notched at least one ace (Jones, Rachel Moore, Aimee Huddleston, Sarah Treadwell and Kathy Shahrokh).
The Terps clinched the match with a 30-25 third-game victory after a kill by Jennifer Dewalt on match point.
DiLivio finished the night with 15 kills (.565) and 10 digs, while Jones posted 15 kills (.462), three aces and seven digs. Fiona DeFreitas had a match-high 11 digs and Stephanie Smith had a match-high three blocks. Setter Aimee Huddleston dished out 51 assists and had the Terps hit .440 for the match. Sarah Treadwell also had a strong outing for Maryland with eight kills and 10 digs.
Leading NC State was Adeola Kosoko and Kayla Ragan with five kills each.
Maryland continues its road swing tomorrow when it faces North Carolina in Carmichael Auditorium. That match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
