No. 25 Volleyball Ends Season With 3-0 Loss To Colorado State

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Lynnsy Jones had 15 kills and hit .333, but No. 25 Maryland fell in the second round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament, 30-23, 30-28, 30-26, to No. 12 Colorado State Saturday night in Comcast Center Gymnasium.

Maria DiLivio joined Jones as the only other Terrapin in double digits for kills, recording 10 while hitting .364, while Fiona DeFreitas had a match-high 16 digs.

The Terrapins fell behind early in game one, 21-12, and never recovered despite getting six first-game kills from Jones. Colorado State's Tess Rogers paced her team in the first game with four kills in game one and the Rams won, 30-23.

Maryland jumped out to a 20-12 lead in the second game, but Colorado State fought back to tie the game at 28. From there, two costly Terrapin attack errors gave the Rams the game, 30-28.

CSU would go on to clinch the match with a 30-26 third-game victory, improving its record to 30-4 and advancing to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Andreya Downs led the Rams with 13 kills, while Melissa Courtney handed out 47 assists.

Maryland ends the year at 27-8, its best finish since 1997.
