COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Sophomore middle blocker Stephanie Smith (Bethesda, Md.) connected on a season-high 12 kills and hit a career-high .667 to lead the University of Maryland women's volleyball team to victory over Morgan State at the Terrapin Invitational in College Park on Friday. The Terps, now 6-2 for the year, won in three games (30-15, 30-20, 30-22).

Smith played three games, recorded a block and no attacking errors for the match. The Terrapins' attack was a well-rounded one against the Bears, as eight players posted kills. Juniors Maria DiLivio (Hamilton, Ontario) and Sarah Treadwell (Pearland, Texas) had solid efforts with nine and eight kills, respectively. DiLivio also had three service aces and 10 digs, while Treadwell hit .353 with five digs.

Junior setter Aimee Huddleston (Keller, Texas) dished out 30 assists, had a team-high 13 digs and posted four kills, and with one kill against Morgan State, senior right side hitter Lynnsy Jones (Castro Valley, Calif.) has now recorded 991 career kills. She will look to break 1,000 in the Terps' nightcap.

In earlier action from the Terrapin Invitational, College of Charleston outlasted Virginia Tech to win in four games, 3-1 (30-32, 30-26, 30-22, 30-27). Charleston was led by Rebecca Winters, who had a match-high 18 kills (.469) and seven digs.

Virginia Tech's Annie Spicer led her team with 13 kills and 21 digs.

The Terrapin Invitational continues tonight as Maryland takes on College of Charleston at 7:30 p.m. Prior to that game, Virginia Tech will face Morgan State at 5:30 p.m. All tournament matches are in Comcast Center Gymnasium; admission is free.
