No. 24 Women's Basketball Opens Home Slate Against Siena on Sunday

Nov. 20, 2004

The No. 24 Maryland women's basketball team welcomes the Siena Saints to Comcast Center for its home opener on Sunday. Tickets for the 2:00 p.m. game are available online or by calling 800-IMA-TERP.

Sunday is also "Canned Food Drive Day" which means FREE admission for any fan who brings a canned food item to the game! Help out those less fortunate this Thanksgiving by donating to the Maryland Women's Basketball Canned Food Drive.

Also, University of Maryland employees can receive four (4) FREE tickets to the game for Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day! Claim your tickets by visiting the Terrapin Ticket Office at Comcast Center with your UMCP ID. You may bring up to two(2) additional ID's for your co-workers.

The Terps started their 2004-05 campaign with a 94-74 win over Appalachian State on Friday night. Crystal Langhorne led a group of five double-digit scorers with 25 points and seven rebounds, knocking down 11-of-14 shots in her Terrapin debut. As a team, the Terps shot 62% from the floor (39-of-63) and outrebounded the Mountaineers, 38-19.

For Siena, Sunday's contest will be its season opener and first ever matchup with Maryland. Playing out of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Association, the Saints have laid claim to four straight MAAC regular season titles and the last three conference players of the year. This season, they'll be led by tri-captains, Lauren Surber, Alexis Darling and Michelle Blot.

On the horizon for the Terps is a trip to Boulder, Colo., where they will take on LSU (Nov. 26), followed by either host Colorado or Penn (Nov. 27). They'll return home after the holidays to take on Loyola (Md.) in a 7 pm matchup Tuesday, Nov. 30.
