COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland's Shay Doron was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, while teammate Crystal Langhorne was tabbed the ACC Rookie of the Week, which was announced today by the conference office. It is only the second time in school history two Terps have earned conference weekly honors in the same week.

Doron, a sophomore guard, scored 37 points - the third-most points in school history - leading the Maryland Terrapins to a 92-77 upset-victory over No. 4 North Carolina on Sunday night. The Great Neck, N.Y., native scored 19 of her 37 points in the final 7:20 of the game, in addition to sinking 20 of 22 free-throws, to help Maryland seal the victory. Defensively, Doron also recorded five steals while grabbing seven defensive boards. The win marked the first time since the 1992-93 season that Maryland had defeated a top five opponent.

Langhorne, a forward from Willingboro, N.J., recorded 23 points and a career-high 14 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Ranked 16th in the nation in field goal percentage, she was 11-for-13 from the field while playing all but one minute of the game. Her 23 points marks the fourth-straight 20 point game for the rookie.

Langhorne picks up Rookie of the Week accolades for the second-straight week and the third time overall, the most of any conference freshman. Doron earns Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. She was selected Rookie of the Week twice last year. The pair become the first Terrapins to earn ACC nods in the same week since Kalisa Davis (Player) and Tiffany Brown (Rookie) did so on Feb. 24, 1997.

Maryland is 11-2 on the season and 1-1 after its big upset over the Tar Heels. The Terps travel to Georgia Tech on Thursday, Jan. 13 to open a two-game road swing.
