Ninth-ranked Maryland returns home for seven of its next nine home games, beginning with Appalachian State on Thursday, Dec. 1. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. The Terps are looking to get back on the winning track after narrowly falling to No. 1 Tennessee in the championship game of the Paradise Jam.
Maryland is enjoying its highest ranking since Feb. 1993, while sophomore Crystal Langhorne (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) and freshman Marissa Coleman (Cheltenham, Md./St. John's College [D.C]) were named the ACC's Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, on Monday.
Appalachian State comes to College Park for the second time ever, as the Terps lead the all-time series, 2-0. The Mountaineers last visited Maryland for a first-round NCAA Tournament matchup in 1990. The Terps won that contest, 100-71.
Last season, Langhorne, Laura Harper (Elkins Park, Pa./Cheltenham), Ashleigh Newman (Shelbyville, Tenn./Shelbyville Area) and Jade Perry (Central City, Ky./Muhlenberg North) all made their collegiate debuts vs. the Mountaineers, when they traveled to Boone, N.C., to open the 2004-05 campaign. Langhorne scored 25 points to lead five double-digit scorers, as Maryland won the game, 94-74.
The first 500 fans in attendance receive a Maryland women's basketball poster. Tickets can be purchased online at www.umterps.com or at the Comcast Center ticket window.
