COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Maryland Athletics and the Terrapin Sports Radio Network invite fans to tune-in and call-in to "Terps Talk" tonight with featured guests former All-American Maryland quarterback Jack Scarbath and current Terrapin Volleyball coach Janice Kruger. The two-hour, call-in show hosted by Johnny Holliday is dedicated to Terps sports.
Scarbath was the first quarterback to score a touchdown in the new Byrd Stadium in 1950. Under coach Jim Tatum's tenure, Scarbath spearheaded Tatum's "split T" offense from 1950-52, and led the Terps to a 24-4-1 record, including a perfect 10-0 season and 28-13 upset of national champion Tennessee in the 1951 Sugar Bowl. In 1952, he was honored with first team All-America citations from a number of sources, and was runner-up in the Heisman Trophy balloting. He also was the University of Maryland's representative in the Legends Program at last week's ACC Championship football game.
In her 18th year with Maryland, Coach Kruger just completed one of the Terrapins most successful volleyball seasons in the last ten years. The Terps finished 28-5 overall and tied for first in the ACC. The Terrapins went to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time in history this year, won back-to-back ACC Championships in 2003 and 2004, tying this season.
Coach Kruger surpassed her 700th career victory earlier in the year and has four players that made all-ACC selections. Coach Kruger's career record at Maryland is 350-218 with the Terps.
Listeners can call-in to (888) 372-9535 to speak with Scarbath beginning at 8:00 p.m., followed by coach Kruger at 9:00 p.m.
