Terps Contribute Toward Women's Heritage Center

Feb. 13, 2005

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - As part of the drive to set the Atlantic Coast Conference's single-game attendance record for women's basketball, the University of Maryland athletics department Sunday made a contribution to the Maryland Women's Heritage Center.

At halftime of the game between Maryland and Duke, athletics director Deborah A. Yow and University President C.D. Mote Jr. presented a check for $3,500 to Kendel Ehrlich, the wife of Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich as a donation to the center.

The Maryland Women's Heritage Center, the first state center of its kind in the nation, will provide a place to learn and teach about the contributions of Maryland women throughout the state's history. It is expected to be housed in downtown Baltimore.

The presentation was part of the department's "Cram Comcast" promotion, which improved the ACC's single-game attendance mark from 14,500 to 17,243. Maryland lost to Duke 60-49 in the game which matched nationally ranked teams and was telecast nationally on ESPN2.
