Maryland will host the First and Second Rounds of the 2005 NCAA Tournament at Comcast Center on Sunday, March 20th and Tuesday, March 22nd. The Terps earned a #7 seed and will play #10 seed Wisconsin-Green Bay in the First Round. Game times will be announced on Monday.

The Terps are 21-9 this season, the most wins for Maryland since 1992-93. Despite earning a six seed in the ACC Tournament last weekend, Maryland reached the semifinals of the tournament with wins over Clemson and No. 19/21 NC State.

Named on of 20 finalists for the Naismith Award Coach of the Year, head coach Brenda Frese has transformed a Terrapin squad which won just 10 games three years ago. Besides winning the most games in 12 years, the Terps are ranked among the top 25 in the nation in three statistical categories - scoring (14th - 73.3), field goal percentage (22nd - 45.0) and rebounding margin (17th - +7.2).

This season also saw Maryland upset ACC Champion and second-ranked North Carolina on Jan. 9, its first win over a top-five team since 1992-93. The Terps are one of just three teams to claim a win over the Tar Heels and are the only squad to beat them by double-digits.

Leading the way for the Terps are sophomore Shay Doron (Great Neck, N.Y./Christ the King) and freshman Crystal Langhorne (Willingboro, N.J./Willinboro). The team's scoring leader at 17.6 points per game, Doron was selected first team All-ACC, the first Terp to earn a first team nod since 1993-94. Langhorne, who is second on the team with 17.0 points per game and leads the ACC with 10.5 rebounds per game, became the first Terrapin in the history of the program to be named to the second team. She also won ACC Rookie of the Year by a big margin, earning 64 of a possible 74 votes. At the ACC Tournament, she had 24 points and 16 rebounds vs. Clemson, and 23 points and 16 boards in the upset over NC State, en route to first team All-ACC Tournament honors, the only freshman to be named to the first team.

Senior Anesia Smith (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield) is having the best season of her career. She is in the top five in the nation in assists and is the ACC's leader in that category. Her 204 helpers this season are two more than her total over the last three seasons.

Sophomore Kalika France (Forestville, Md./Bishop McNamara) continues to be one of the best rebounding guards in the conference, averaging 4.8 boarods per game. She also rounds out the team's top three scorers, averaging 11.2 points per game.

Last season, Maryland earned a No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament and upset No. 5-seeded Miami (Fla.), 86-85, in Baton Rouge, La. It was its first tournament win in 12 years.
