COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After a week off from action, sixth-ranked Maryland looks to get back to its winning ways when it hosts Florida State for an ACC women's basketball clash on Monday, Jan. 16 at 4:30 p.m. The game will be televised on the conference's Regional Sports Network (Comcast SportsNet, Fox Sports South, Sun Sports).
The first 500 fans will get a free Maryland t-shirt and, after the game, meet the Terps for an autograph session. Hot 99.5 FM will also be on hand to give out prizes while playing your favorite songs.
The Terps (14-2, 1-1 ACC) suffered just their second loss of the season, falling to second-ranked Duke last Sunday, 86-68. Maryland's only two losses have come to the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in the nation. It will be Florida State's (10-5, 1-1 ACC) first time in Comcast Center in two years because of the expansion of the ACC. The Seminoles also had a week off, topping Virginia, 60-46, last Sunday, snapping a two-game losing streak.
Maryland continues to reach new highs. The Terps' need just five three pointers to match last season's total of 101. This season, the team's improved shooting from beyond the arc has seen it average almost twice the number of makes as last year. The Terps are averaging 6.0 three-pointers per game, compared to last year's 3.2 3-point makes per game. They are the best three-point shooting team in the nation, shooting 46.4 percent on the season.
Maryland leads the all-time series vs. Florida State, 19-12, and has done a good job of protecting its home court, winning 10 of the 13 meetings between the teams in College Park. Last season, the Terps fell to FSU in overtime, 95-91, despite Shay Doron's 39-point effort, which tied a school record.
