The Maryland men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host the Terrapin Cup Invitational beginning Thursday, November 15. The three-day tournament will be held at the Eppley Center's Natatorium.
Eight teams will come to swim at Maryland, including the West Chester Golden Rams, UConn Huskies, Richmond Spiders, Mary Washington Eagles, Villanova Wildcats, William and Mary Tribe, Drexel Dragons and Navy Midshipmen. Richmond and the late ad-on Navy will only be competing in the women's events.
The men's swimming and diving team enters competition with an undefeated 2-0 record after knocking off the Duke Blue Devils last weekend. The women are 1-1, 0-1 in the ACC.
While Maryland will face no ACC contenders, the Terps will battle against teams from the Big East, Colonial Athletic Association, Patriot League Conference, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, Capital Athletic Conference and the Atlantic 10
Villanova and UConn will travel to Maryland from the Big East Conference. The Wildcat men are 0-3 for the season, 0-2 in conference play, while the women's team is 5-1 and a 3-0 undefeated record in conference meets. The men from UConn boast a 3-0 record, 1-0 in Big East play while the women hold a 4-2 record, 0-2 in conference play.
William & Mary and Drexel will be competing in the CAA. The Tribe hold a 3-4 record, 3-2 on the men's side while the women have complied a 4-3 record, 4-1 in the CAA.
The Midshipmen and the Spider's women's teams will also compete this weekend. Navy enters competition with an undefeated 10-0 record, boasting a 5-0 in the Patriot League Conference. Richmond holds a 3-4 record, 0-0 in the Atlantic 10.
The tournament will be broken into three all-day events. On Thursday, Maryland will hold the 200 freestyle and freestyle relay, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 1 meter diving and 400 medley relays.
On Friday, the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 3 meter diving and 800 freestyle relay will take place.
Swimmers will compete on Saturday in the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay.
